Provider Diversity
Care responsibilities vary significantly based on gender and parental status. By comparing total hours of paid and unpaid care provided daily by women and men, both living with and without children, we can see how caregiving patterns shift across status groups.
Caregiving includes both primary care activities and secondary care activities. Primary activities refer to times when caregiving is the main activity, with full focus on tasks like feeding, bathing, or direct supervision. Secondary activities occur at the same time as a primary activity, such as cooking or working while supervising a child.
